How does work?
On Android devices, there is a data-saving feature that allows users to control which apps can use data both in the background and in active mode. Background apps can significantly increase data usage, so managing their access can be very useful when using unlimited internet with limited speed. You can enable data saving as follows:
For Android:
- Settings -> Connections -> Data Usage -> Data Saver -> Toggle the switch next to "Turn On Now"
- Settings -> Network & Internet -> Data Saver -> Toggle the switch next to "Data Saver".
Disable Automatic App Updates
To save mobile data, it is also important to turn off automatic app updates on both Android and iOS devices, as updates can download while using the internet.
-
For Android:
Play Store -> More options (three lines) -> Settings -> Network Preferences -> Auto-update apps -> Don't auto-update apps -> OK -
For iPhone:
Settings -> App Store -> Automatic Downloads -> App Downloads and App Updates -> Slide the toggle to the left (gray background).
Disable Photo Syncing on iOS (for eSIM users):
To avoid excessive data usage, we recommend turning off photo syncing via iCloud while using eSIM on iOS devices:
- For iPhone:
Settings -> Apple ID -> iCloud -> Apps Using iCloud -> Photos -> Turn Off
By following these steps, you can optimize your data usage and prevent unnecessary background data consumption.
