The Balkans is a region that is growing in popularity. Many Poles decide to take road trips through the countries lying there. During such trips, constant access to the Internet is a huge advantage. How to stay online while in the Balkans?
Free internet while roaming
In the European Union it is possible to use several GB per month while roaming without additional charges. This is a convenient solution primarily in Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria or Greece. Until recently, countries such as Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro were exceptions to this rule. However, these countries have now abolished roaming fees.
Free internet in the Balkans with a Polish subscription, however, is quite limited. It allows you to perform basic activities while traveling, but won't work for watching movies, video calls or work.
Internet in the Balkans - Local SIM cards
You can also buy a local SIM card in the Balkans. However, you need to remember that it will only work in the country where it was purchased. So such a solution will work only during longer stays in one country. Otherwise, it will be necessary to buy more SIM cards after crossing each border.
In some countries in the Balkans, it is necessary to register the SIM card by showing your passport. There are also tourist packages in many countries, but they are usually more expensive than those offered to residents of the area. They usually allow a specific number of GB to be used within 7 or 14 days.
