Added: 01.01.2024, Updated: 12.12.2023,

Since the beginning of humanity, our ancestors has made a lot of unforgettable buildings and monuments, that we are recalling them with pride and fascination. The breathtaking view of Chinese Great Wall or Coliseum in Rome is making them all-time must sightsee objects for every tourist. But have you ever thought about some modern places that it will go down in history because of many cases like unusual shape, size or uniqueness of place where it was built? Here are the useful list for every tourist about seven 21st century World wonders that are absolutely obligatory attractions to see. They will definitely become a legend like Machu Picchu or Taj Mahal.

1.      Burj Khalifa - Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Our list we would like to start with currently the tallest building in the world with 828 m height. A modern style with characteristical pointy head is making every people walking next to this hotel feeling so small. When you’re going to travel in Dubai, try to find a place, where you will be able to take a full photo of Burj Khalifa. It surely will be difficult.

2.     Oresund Bridge, Denmark and Sweden

This bridge has connected Denmark with Sweden making every people available to drive by car to Scandinavia. Oresund Bridge has incredible view from far - a very long construction built upon strait, which suddenly lowers into the underground in specially digged place. Combines comfort for drivers with impressive look.

3.      EC1 - Łódź, Poland

One of the best reasons, why everybody should visit Poland. Not only because of Warsaw and Cracow. Łódź, which many years ago has been a cotton-industrial heart of Poland, now is one of the biggest cultural places in our country. EC1 is a former power plant, which was transformed into a modern planetarium. Current look of building perfectly matches with renovated center of Łódź, that’s why in 2013 this wonder was awarded as “the most beautiful building in Poland”. Don’t forget to visit EC1 during your trip to Poland!

4.      Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium, Beijing, China

Built for 2008 Summer Olympic Games. An unusual look, which really reminds of bird’s nest, is probably second most impressive Chinese building after The Great Wall of China. The stadium is able to contain nearly 80,000 spectators. Great idea of projecting building makes the Bird’s Nest ability of calling it “the modern Coliseum”.

5.      Palm Islands, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

A perfect example of showing that people are able to make literally everything. 5.5 million cubic metres of rock brought from over 16 quarries in Dubai, 94 million cubic metres of sand brought from deep sea beds 6 nautical miles from the coast of Dubai, 210 million cubic metres of rock, sand and limestone - that numbers are seriously enormous. An artificial islands have miscellaneous shapes - palms associated with the Middle East, the Earth with all continents and the Milky Way with our Solar System. From a bird’s eye view, Palm Islands makes incredible feeling.

6.      Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia

Probably the most known wonder from or propositions, but in our opinion, it fits perfectly for this list. Built in 1973 Opera House from Sydney still enraptures every tourist and makes all sightseers a main point to visit in Australia. Known for their characteristic shell-shaped roofs and being one of the first buildings staying on the water. If you haven’t seen Sydney Opera House yet, then you should catch up as soon as possible.

7.      Angel of the North, Gateshead, United Kingdom

An impressive sculpture made in 1998 by Antony Gormley. The construction is able to stay safely even during the 160 km/h wind. Gormley’s sculpture is 20 m man shaped figure with straight wings (a little bit tilted forward to make feel that Angel is trying to embrace us). Minimalism and beautiful localisation has made the Angel of the North something like modern Christ the Redeemer sculpture.
