Nearly everybody loves to eat something sweet after having a delicious dinner. A donut or ice creams are the most popular way to finish your treaty hunger. Maybe they're not very healthy, but because of their popularity and easiness of making, people are mainly eating them. If you're not a fan of donuts, don't worry. There are thousands of sweets that you can surely eat with relish, and we've separated 6 in our opinion the best of them.

(WARNING: do not read without a food. Be prepared that our article will be able to make you hungry ;) ).
 

1. Japanese Mochi


Mochi is a tiny cake made of sweet rice flour called "mochiko". The most popular filling is anko - a paste made of sweet red beans, but sweets could be filled in probably every possible way. Mochis are often made in traditional way, where steamed rice is mashed and pounded with wooden mallets in a traditional mortar. The work involves two people, one pounding and the other turning and wetting  the mochi. They must keep a steady rhythm or they may accidentally injure each other with the heavy mallet. The traditional mochi-pounding ceremony in Japan is called "mochitsuki". If you're going to Japan, you must look for these rice treats and to feel their unforgettable taste.

2. Polish Krówki


Krówki are sweets made of milk, sugar and butter which are crispy outside, but often are fluid and sticky inside. Don't be afraid of their name, they're not made of cows ;) . Their taste are very similar to toffee. Currently manufacturers are making many different tastes of krówki like coffee, coconut, vanilla or also adding to them some additions like cranberries. Remember to buy them as fresh as possible, older one does not have fluid filling.

3. Turkish Delight


Also called "lokum" or "rahat lokum". They are made of starch with sugar - simple and tasty combination and covered with coconut shrims or powdered sugar. Lokum are also very popular in Balkan countries and in Greece. The consistence is similar to a very thick gel, that's why they are really melting in mouth. Turkish delight has many flavours. The most popular are rosewater, vanilla and mint. Remember to buy a box full of Turkish Delights. They could be a very good gift for a friend.
 

4. Portuguese Pastel de nata


The national sweet dish of Portugal, which came from Lisbon suburb called Belém. They are tiny pastries filled with egg tart. The best one are possible to buy in Pasteis de Belém coffee house in Lisbon. Perfectly matches with strong cappuccino.


5. French Macarons


A sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food colouring. Originally are made in France since XVIII century. They are popular because of their variety of flavours. From very traditional like chocolate, raspberry or vanilla to matcha and even... foie gras flavour for real gourmets.

6. Dutch Stroopwafel


The last one treat is perfect for real tea or coffee lovers. It's a waffle which includes two thin layers of baked dough filled with caramel syrup. They could be eaten in common way, but the best stroopwafel is placed over a hot drink. Steam makes syrup more soft and sticky, and waffle has more taste sensations. Test stroopwafel in all ways, and you will know which one is the best for you.
