In recent years, India has become a very greedy morsel for Polish tourists and businessmen. There is nothing surprising in this, given that this country has left behind a gigantic cultural heritage, and huge Indian corporations such as Tata and Infosys are thriving in Poland. If you are going any moment to the second most populous country in the world and don't know what to see there - you've come to the right place ;) Here are some of the most interesting attractions that are a must-see in India.
We begin with by far the most famous item, which appears on the list of the new seven wonders of the world for good reason. The colossal mausoleum located in Agra was erected in the 17th century in memory of Mutumaz Mahal - the beloved wife of the Great Mogul Shahjahan. For this reason it is called the "temple of love." A true work of art built over twenty years, using marble. A trip to India should definitely start with seeing the Taj Mahal with your own eyes.
As in Poland we have bison in the Bialowieza Forest, so in Jaipur there is a reserve that protects Indian elephants from extinction. Therefore, at Elefantasy everyone will have the opportunity not only to see these monstrous mammals with their own eyes, but also to feed them under the supervision of trained caretakers. Elephant rides are also offered, so this place guarantees an unforgettable experience!
India, while still a British colony, already had a developed rail network in the 20th century. Many of them are now of great historical value. So much so that three routes have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Narrow gauge railroads won't provide the same high speeds as Poland's Pendolino, but that's the biggest advantage of Indian trains - it gives you a peaceful view of India's wonderful landscapes. Well, and in the case of narrow gauge trains we are unlikely to be in danger of such an extreme ride as in the case of the normal railroad network in India, as you can see from photos or videos on the Internet ;)
The Taj Mahal is not the only work of Indian architecture from hundreds of years ago. The red forts in Agra and Delhi not only fulfilled their practical role, that is, guaranteed the safety of the city's inhabitants. These fortifications impress with their unusual architecture. While in the Jaipur area, it is also worth seeing Amber fort. Amazingly, hundreds of years ago care was taken to make the courtyard delightful with green plants. It is a pity that nowadays many architects forget about it....
Many people associate India precisely with tea. If you plan to find the largest plantation of this plant just in this country, we recommend going to Munnar. The vastness of greenery will definitely impress even those who are not flora enthusiasts. Here you can also photograph rare species of animals such as the forest nilgiritar and the Nilgirian lutung.
Finally, also a magnificent work of architecture, but in this case - modern. The Lotus Temple was built between 1980 and 1986, and to date it has been visited by more than 50 million people. In our opinion, it is worth to enlarge this list ;) . The dome of the entire temple is shaped like a lotus flower - in appearance it can be compared to the Sydney Opera House.
